From the editor

Hi! I am Kylie DeWitt the Executive Director of Communications for Richmond County Schools. I have created The School Scoop as a way to promote our district and share the wonderful stories of our students.

To make this possible I need your help! Let me know what is going on that I may not see. Whether you are a parent, community member, or RCS staff member, you can contribute! Use the link below to submit a photo and a brief description and it will be reviewed to add to the monthly edition of The School Scoop!

Varsity football returns to Raider Stadium for the first home game of the season on August 18th! Kickoff is at 7PM! You don't want to miss our Richmond Raiders taking on the Seventy-First High School Falcons!

During the recent summer season, Richmond County Schools offered a diverse range of educational and engaging camps to cater to different interests and needs. STEM Camps focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, aiming to foster hands-on learning and creativity in these fields.

The Summer Bridge transition camps provided a supportive environment for students transitioning between grade levels, helping them adapt smoothly to new academic challenges.

We also hosted CTE, RTA, Acceleration, and Credit Recovery Camps to further support our students this summer.

Summer Leadership Retreat

The Summer Leadership Retreat at Big Pine Retreat proved to be a transformative experience for principals and district leaders, emphasizing effective team building through stepping out of their comfort zones. Engaging in an array of activities such as low ropes courses and team-building exercises, participants were encouraged to collaborate, communicate, and problem-solve in unfamiliar settings. By fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose, the retreat not only strengthened individual leadership skills but also promoted a cohesive and supportive leadership team poised to guide and inspire their educational community.

"Stuff the Bus," a heartwarming community event hosted by the United Way of Richmond County at Walmart, exceeded all expectations with its incredible success! Thanks to the remarkable support of dedicated sponsors and volunteers, we gathered an impressive array of school supplies that will undoubtedly make a significant impact for students in need. The pens, notebooks, backpacks, and more will play a crucial role as students return to school, setting them up for a brighter academic journey. This achievement is a true testament to the spirit of unity and compassion within our community, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this wonderful cause.
