First Week of School is underway!

The first week of school has been filled with energy and promise as Richmond County Schools embarks on the new year. Students are reconnecting with peers while discovering new opportunities for learning and growth.

A highlight has been the rollout of the district's new, more flexible dress code policy. Students are thrilled to express their individuality through fashion while still dressing appropriately for the learning environment.

Teachers report the updated dress code has been welcomed positively and has reinforced a culture of mutual understanding and respect. By trusting students, the policy empowers them to be responsible and feel comfortable at school.

With many initiatives to support student success, Richmond County Schools is off to an outstanding start. The District looks forward to an engaging, productive year helping every student excel and pursue their passions. The future is bright!

Duke College Advising Corps

Richmond County Schools is excited to announce a new partnership with the Duke University College Advising Corps (CAC) program. CAC aims to increase college access and completion for low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students.

Through CAC, two expert college advisers have been placed at Richmond Senior High School and Richmond Early College High School. These advisers provide critical support guiding students through the complex college admissions process.

Richmond Senior has been matched with Ajea Hughes, a recent graduate passionate about expanding college access. Meanwhile, Richmond Early College students are supported by Mohamed Fall, dedicated to helping students find the right college fit.

By connecting RCS students with dedicated mentors, CAC is creating brighter futures through the transformative power of higher education. We welcome our new advisers and look forward to the impact they will have!

District Professional Development Day

We are excited to share the success of our recent District Professional Development day, an event that truly embodies our commitment to growth and excellence within Richmond County Schools. Teachers from across the district came together at Richmond Senior High School for a full day of enriching professional development ahead of the new school year.

The day was an inspiring showcase of collaboration, innovation, and dedication to our shared mission of providing the best education for our students. Our teachers engaged in a diverse array of professional development sessions that spanned content-based topics, instructional strategies, best practices, and STEM education.
